Because I get to go to Stardust and get books like this gorgeous one (which I’m very excited to have in my collection; and it’s illustrated by one of my favourite artists too!)

Yeah, it’s pretty nasty and dismissive over there. A couple years ago there was a similar corset-related article (about Cathie Jung or Ethel Granger, I think), and when I offered my two cents about my experiences tightlacing, I was torn to shreds for embracing a tool of patriarchal oppression. Feminism should be promote self-determination, but instead some people have a litmus test to determine how “down for the cause” you are. It is possible to re-appropriate an article of clothing that was problematic in the past. A properly worn corset that is moderately laced is no more lethal than a push-up bra or a pair of spanx. The dangers of corsets are complete baloney and malarkey. ~Clair
